Harvey Smith is an American game designer and creative director of Arkane Studios. Based in Austin, Texas, Smith has previously worked at Origin Systems/Looking Glass Studios, Multitude, and Ion Storm Inc.
Career[]
Early in his career, Smith worked on System Shock as QA Lead, and as an associate producer for Ultima VIII, along with other games. He then worked as lead designer for Deus Ex and its sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War. In 2008, he joined Arkane and became co-creative director of Dishonored, along with Raphael Colantonio. In 2013, Smith moved to Lyon, France to lead Arkane Lyon in the development of Dishonored 2. By 2017, he came back to Arkane Austin in order to lead Redfall's development.

In April 2013, Smith published his first novel, Big Jack is Dead, using CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform.
Awards[]
At the Game Developers Conference in 2006, Smith won the Game Designer's Challenge: Nobel Peace Prize, for his design featuring a portable video game that facilitates political social action.
Many of the games Smith has worked on have also earned numerous awards, most notably Deus Ex, which won over 40 Game Of the Year awards.
