Key

Keys are important items that can be found in Dishonored and its DLC: Dunwall City Trials, The Knife of Dunwall, and The Brigmore Witches, along with Dishonored 2. They can unlock doors, gates, safes, chests, and any other miscellaneous items that are locked. Once a key is collected by either Corvo Attano or Daud, it will be added to their respective key ring. Sometimes, a key may be intended for use in a mission other than the one in which it was found. In Dishonored 2, the keys which Corvo and Emily Kaldwin can collect count as mission items and disappear after the protagonist returns to the Dreadful Wale.

Corvo's Cell Key Dishonored The key to Corvo's cell at Coldridge Prison. The key is under the bread served to him, placed there by Watch Officer Thorpe at the behest of the Loyalists.
Cell Hallway Key Dishonored The key to the prison hallway. It cannot be found during the mission, but the door will be unlocked once Corvo reaches the hallway through the yard.
Yard Walkway Key Dishonored The key to the yard walkway. It is on the belt of the guard patrolling the walkway outside the yard.
Yard Key Dishonored The key to the prison yard. It is on the belt of one of the guards patrolling the yard.
Dunwall Sewer Gate Key Dishonored The key to the sewer gate. It can be found with the equipment delivered to Corvo by the Loyalists.
Havelock's Room Key Dishonored The key to Havelock's bedroom at the Hound Pits Pub. It is on Lydia's belt, but can only be pickpocketed before she detects Corvo in the mission Dishonored. Havelock's bedroom is not locked, meaning this key is not actually required.
Pub Master Room Key From Dishonored
to Return to the Tower
It can be found on a bookshelf in Havelock's room, behind the door. This key serves no purpose.
Hound Pits Key House of Pleasure The key to the Hound Pits outside the pub. It cannot be normally obtained during the game, though a glitch detailed in the trivia section below will grant it.
Piero's Workshop Key From High Overseer Campbell
to Return to the Tower
The key to the workshop at the Hound Pits Pub. It can be found on the table upstairs inside the workshop.
Granny's Front Door Key High Overseer Campbell The key to the front door of Granny Rags' house in the Distillery District. She gives it after asking Corvo to take care of her "gentlemen callers".
Galvani Building Key High Overseer Campbell

The key to the storage room on the third floor of Dr. Galvani's offices during the second mission and the top floor's balcony during the third mission. It can be found on the belt of Galvani's maid, Ms. Benton, during the second mission, or on the belt of one of the Dead Counters on the third floor during the third mission. The key can also be found on a piece of furniture next to the building's entrance during both missions.

The key to Dr. Galvani's laboratory on the third floor. The key can be found on Galvani's desk inside the lab or on a key rack next to the pantry on the first floor during both missions. It is also on the belt of the guard patrolling the second floor during the second mission.

The key to Dr. Galvani's pantry on the first floor. It can be found on a key rack next to the pantry's door.
Distillery Master Key High Overseer Campbell The key to the Distillery's control room and Slackjaw's office in the cellar. It can be found in the Distillery area, on a table near the tracks and next to the Elixir Black Market book, on the table near the building's entrance and on the belt of the guard patrolling in front of it or on a key rack inside the control room. Despite its name, this key does not unlock all doors in the Distillery.
Interrogation Room Key High Overseer Campbell The key to the back of the interrogation room at the Office of the High Overseer. It can be found on the belt of two guards patrolling around the room.
Back Yard Gate Key High Overseer Campbell The key to the Back Yard of the Office of the High Overseer. It is on the belt of either on one of the Overseers ambushing Overseer Berthold and his sister Elsa near the street access door, or on the lone Overseer patrolling near the gate outside the yard. It can also be found in a nearby basement accessible through a small window, on a table.
Workshop Key High Overseer Campbell The key to the workshop in the Backyard of the Office of the High Overseer. It can be found on a key rack inside the workshop and next to the door and on the belt of one of the Overseers patrolling with a hound in the Backyard.
Workshop Chest Key High Overseer Campbell The key to the cabinet inside the workshop. It can be found in a sealed bottle on a shelf inside the workshop.
Distillery Reserve Key House of Pleasure The key to the reserves where Weepers are detained at the Distillery. It can be found in the reserve behind the control room and on the belt of one of the thugs patrolling on the lower level of the Distillery's main area.
Old Port District Sewer Key House of Pleasure / The Loyalists The key to the two sewer hatches around the Hound Pits Pub and the door in the basement. Havelock provides it to deal with the weepers in the sewer before starting the third mission, and it can be found on a key rack in the abandoned apartment at the beginning of the eighth mission.
Art Dealer's Apartment Key House of Pleasure The key to the front and back doors of Bunting's house. It can found on a woman being harassed by two guards on Gaff Street. Corvo may choose to rescue her, after which she will give him the key, or he may loot the key from her corpse. At the Golden Cat, Bunting will also offer the key after being tortured if Corvo is not looking for the combination to his safe. It can also be found on a key rack in a room on the first floor.
The Captain's Chair Hotel Key House of Pleasure The key to both doors to the Captain's Chair Hotel. Given by Slackjaw after completing his first side objective.
Golden Cat Master Key House of Pleasure The key to the locker in Madame Prudence's office, her quarters by the back stairs, the Golden Cat's V.I.P. exit and the Steam Room's maintenance access. It is on Prudence's belt and on a key rack inside the Steam Room.
Warehouse Key The Royal Physician The key to the warehouse in the middle of the Southside Gate area. It can be found inside the warehouse, on a desk on the second floor.
Pratchett's Key The Royal Physician The key to Pratchett's House and the desk on the second floor. It can be found on Pratchett's belt.
Drawbridge Key The Royal Physician The key is on the belt of the Officer patrolling the south end drawbridge control booth.
Drawbridge Cell Key The Royal Physician The key to the cell at the north end drawbridge station. It can be found on a table on the opposite side of the room.
Pier Door Key The Royal Physician The key to the gate leading to the docks at the end of Drawbridge Way. It can be found on a table inside one of the security booths at the end of the drawbridge.
Sokolov's House Key The Royal Physician The key to the desk in Sokolov's quarters and the cell inside the greenhouse on the roof at North End. The key is on Sokolov's belt, at the greenhouse.

The key to Cecelia's apartment in front of the Hound Pits Pub. It can be found under her bed at the pub after returning from the mission The Royal Physician. After returning from the Flooded District, it can only be found on a key rack next to the apartment's door.
Sewer Gate Key Lady Boyle's Last Party The key to the sewer gate below the Boyle Mansion. It can be found at the bottom of the canal, right in front of the sewer gate.
Gate House Key Lady Boyle's Last Party The key to the Boyle Estate's entrance and the gate house. It is on the belt of both Officers at the entrance.
Guard Quarters Key Lady Boyle's Last Party The key to the guard quarters in the building opposite the front door of the manor. The key is on a key rack inside the room, which can be entered from the back window, and on the belt of the Officer standing in front of the building.
Whale Oil Closet Key Lady Boyle's Last Party The key to the closet containing the whale oil supply and the power receptacle connected to the Wall of Light and alarm inside the Boyle Mansion. It is on the belt of the City Watch Officer in the foyer.
Waverly's Bedroom Key Lady Boyle's Last Party The key to Waverly Boyle's bedroom. It can be found inside her bedroom or on the belt of the guard standing at the door. The room can be accessed from the attic linking both Esma and Waverly's bedrooms.
Basement Vault Key Lady Boyle's Last Party The key to the vault in the cellar. It can be found in Lydia's bedroom.
Dunwall Tower Skeleton Key Lady Boyle's Last Party The master key to all locked doors in Dunwall Tower. It can be found in the wardrobe or chest of the mission's target, in her bedroom.
Waterlock Side Door Key Return to the Tower The key to the Waterlock's side door. It is on the belt of the guard patrolling on the terrace overlooking the river.
Security Room Key Return to the Tower The key to the door between the room with the whale oil receptacle for the Wall of Light and the guards' dormitory on the first floor. It can be found on a locker inside the dormitory.
Dunwall Tower Kitchen Key Return to the Tower The key to the kitchen door off the lobby. It can be found behind the door on a key rack. The kitchen can be accessed from the dormitory on the right side of Dunwall Tower.
Broadcast Control Station Key Return to the Tower The key to the door at the bottom of the broadcast tower. It can be found on a key ring inside the tower, next to that door. There is an open entrance on the top floor, but an Arc Pylon guards it.
Lord Regent's Chamber Key Return to the Tower The key to the Lord Regent's chamber door adjacent to the library. It can be found in the room next to General Tobias' quarters.
Planning Room Key Return to the Tower The key to the planning room. It can be found inside the room on a key rack. The room can be accessed through an opening in the back stairway or by deactivating or rewiring the wall of light.
Rail Station Office Key The Flooded District The key to the rail station linking Rudshore Waterfront to Central Rudshore. It can be found on the belt of each assassin patrolling around the market near the station's entrance, or on a key rack inside the office of the Rail Station Foreman overlooking the area.
Daud's Key The Flooded District The key to the caved in part of Daud's hideout in Central Rudshore and the sewer gate underneath, the two desks in the office on the first accessible floor, the chest in Daud's quarters on the second floor and the cabinet in the ruined building next to the hideout. The key can be found on a key rack on Daud's desk, in his quarters.
Mosley's Warehouse Key The Flooded District The key to the locked room in the warehouse by the Old Mosley Canal on Rudshore Gate. It is on the belt of one of the looters inside the warehouse.
Tenement Key The Flooded District The key to the top floor and stairs of the tenement building on Rudshore Gate, to the closet at the back of the Brimsley's room and the locked doors in the top floor apartment next to the building. The key can be found on a table behind the building's first flight of stairs.
Dunwall Sewer Master Key The Flooded District The key to the locked gate in the Old Dunwall Sewers, Granny Rags' lair, the room at the back of her chamber and Slackjaw's shackles. It will only appear if both of them appear during the mission, and will be found on Granny Rags' belt or given by her if Corvo choses to help her.
Emily's Tower Key The Loyalists The key to Emily's tower at the Hound Pits Pub. It can be found on Callista's bed in the tower in low chaos (she will open the door herself), or on her body bag left in the yard in high chaos.
Control Room Key The Light at the End The key to the control room at the entrance of the fort. It is on the belt of a Warfare Overseers with a Music Box patrolling in the fort's yard and can also be found on a table in the bunker overlooking the harbor gate.
Lighthouse Elevator Key The Light at the End The key to the Lighthouse's elevator. It can be found on a key rack inside the gatehouse, at midlevel between the yard and the platform linking the fort to the lighthouse and on the belt of the officer patrolling around the elevator.
Emily's Room Key The Light at the End The key to Emily's room at the Lighthouse. It can be found on a table beside the fireplace inside the conservatory's main room.

Display Case Key Burglar - Expert The key to the display case containing the Yaro Egg, on the second floor. It can be found on the belt of the Officer patrolling around the same floor.
Store Room Chest Key Burglar - Expert The key to the locker in the storage room, on the second floor. It can be found inside the living room on the same floor, next to the Wynnedown Egg.
Bedroom Closet Key Burglar - Expert The key to the closet next to the large room on the fourth floor. It can be found on the desk in the same room.
Closet Chest Key Burglar - Expert The key to the cabinet inside the closet on the fourth floor. It can be found under the returned ashtray on the bookshelf inside the closet. A clue hints at its location.

Laborer Lockup Key A Captain of Industry The key to the cell in the yard. It can be found on a key rack inside the breakroom across the yard, next to a locker.
Pylon Control Box Key A Captain of Industry The key to the power receptacle of the Arc Pylon in the yard. It can be found inside a boat in the boat shed and on the belts of the two Butchers patrolling inside the shed and near the pylon.
Records Office Key A Captain of Industry The key to the records office of the Rothwild Slaughterhouse. It can be found on a key rack next to the room's locked door. The records office can be accessed from Rothwild's office or the walkway linking the two rooms.
Meat Locker Key A Captain of Industry The key to the meat locker where the interrogation chair has been installed. The key is provided by Billie Lurk after questioning either Bundry Rothwild or Abigail Ames on the chair.
Hatter House Key Eminent Domain The key to the front door of The Black Friar, occupied by Hatters in the Legal District Waterfront. It can be found on the side door stoop.
Legal District Key Eminent Domain The key to the Legal District proper. In Low Chaos, the key can be found in at The Black Friar in the second room on the second floor. In High Chaos, it will be next to the corpse of a Hatter named Chauncy, in the white building next to the Almshouse, at the apartment with the highest balcony overlooking the street.
Watchman's Key Eminent Domain The key to the room at the entrance of the Legal Plaza where Wiles Roland is locked up. It is on Simmons's belt who patrols the area.
Timsh Estate Basement Key Eminent Domain The key to the basement door behind Timsh Estate. It can be collected at the Whalers' outpost on the roof in front of the Legal Plaza, the guard hut in the plaza itself, or in the kitchen in the basement.
Timsh Estate Master Key Eminent Domain The key to all three locked chests and the studio on the fourth floor. It is on Timsh's belt.
Apartment 10 Key Eminent Domain The key to Apartment 10, overlooking both the Timsh Estate and the dock gate at the Legal District Waterfront. It can be found in Apartment 7 next to Roland's Journal and the fake eviction letter, or inside Apartment 10 on a key rack.
Daud's Key The Surge The key to the sewer gate at the beginning of the mission, the locker and the chest in Daud's room, the desk on the floor below and the cabinet in the ruined building next to the the Rudshore Chamber of Commerce. The key is acquired automatically after the mission begins.

The key to two chests in the witches' quarters in the attic above the entrance of Brigmore Manor. The key can be found on the desk in Coldridge's interrogation room during the second mission, or on the belt of one of the witches patrolling above the manor's entrance in the final mission.
Guard Post Key A Stay of Execution for Lizzy The key to some of the upper levels of Sections C and D. It can be found at the guard post between those sections, on the table in the cell A20, on the belts of the guards patrolling inside the post and another one on the second floor of Sections A and C.
Ammunition Locker Key A Stay of Execution for Lizzy The key to the ammunition lockers between Section C and D. The key is on the belt of the guard patrolling on the third floor of Section C and A, and can be found behind the left locker after purchasing the Forged Requisition favor.
Jerome's Vault Key The Dead Eels The key to the safe in Jerome's apartment. The key is on his belt or provided by him after purchasing Abigail Ames' favor.
Abandoned Vault Key The Dead Eels The key to the safe found by two Hatters in the canal. It can be found hidden in a bush in the Dead Eels' territory, next to where the wedding band is located, and in the canal next to where the vault was dragged.

Trimble's Lab Key The Dead Eels The key to access Trimble's Lab from the mill's main stairs and to the back stairs. It can be found on a key rack inside, next to the door. The lab can be entered from the balcony near the Geezer's office.
Sewer Access Key The Dead Eels The key to the sewer door from the yard. Nurse Trimble has the key, which can be either stolen from his belt, or given to Daud if he makes a deal with him for the engine coil.
Mechanic Apartment Key The Dead Eels The key to the cabinet in Pete's apartment above the streets of Drapers Ward. It can be found on his corpse in the sewers, on the other side of the gate before the water control station.
Ventilation Maintenance Key The Dead Eels The key to the ventilation room. It can be found on the table next to a corpse inside the same room, which can be accessed through the water control station.
Brigmore Front Door Key Delilah's Masterwork The key to the front door of the manor. It can be found on a plate next to the fountain behind the manor, or near the thieving butler's corpse under the waterfall on the other side of the garden.
Storage Shed Key Delilah's Masterwork The key to the small storage shed in the garden. It can be found on a key rack inside the shed, which can be accessed either from the back window or the fallen roof.
West Wing Key Delilah's Masterwork The key to the entrance of the manor's west wing. It can be found in Delilah's studio or beyond the west wing's door, on a key rack. The wing can be accessed from the lobby, through a partially collapsed corridor upstairs.
Library Key Delilah's Masterwork The key to the library's small door. The key cannot be found, however Daud can enter the library through Delilah's studio or trigger a nearby trap that will destroy the door.

Black Market Shop Key Edge of the World The key to the black market shop in the Campo Seta Dockyards. It can be found in a glass case in the bloodfly-infested apartment near the shop, and on the belt of the shopkeeper, Horatio Weatherby.
Interrogation Room Key Edge of the World The key to the interrogation room in the Overseer's Karnaca enclave. It can be found on the belt of an Overseer just outside the room.
Dr. Hypatia's Apartment Key Edge of the World The key to Alexandria Hypatia's apartment. It can be found in the back room of the Winslow Safe store below the apartment, and in Hypatia's apartment on a desk next to an audiograph player.
Dr. Hypatia's Key The Good Doctor The key to the Recuperation Room of Addermire Institute. It can be found on the desk in Hypatia's office on the fourth floor.
Hamilton's Key The Good Doctor The key to Joe Hamilton's room at the top of Addermire Institute. It can be found in the room in Disease Treatment where Hamilton is being interrogated.
Vasco's Lab Key The Good Doctor The key to the Disease Treatment wing of Addermire Institute. It can be found in the safe in Bartholomeus Vasco's office.
Ticket Booth Key The Clockwork Mansion The key to the ticket booth in the Lower Aventa carriage station. It can be purchased from the nearby black market shop.
Apartment Gate key The Clockwork Mansion The key to the apartments near the black market shop. It can be found on a table in the basement, accessed by bypassing the locked door by entering the apartment complex through an open window.
Side Alley Key The Clockwork Mansion The key to a side alley near the wall of light in Upper Aventa. It can be stolen from the belt of a sleeping Grand Guardsman on the third floor of the office next to the gate blocking access to the Clockwork Mansion.
Waiting Room Key The Clockwork Mansion The key to the door separating the waiting room from the guest area. It can be found on a sofa next to a sleeping guard outside the waiting room.
Maintenance Key The Clockwork Mansion The key to the door allowing access to the lower floor of Jindosh's laboratory. It is on a worktop next to a dead body on the laboratory's lower floor. The key can also be found on a stepladder outside the small hatch leading to the bottom floor of the lab. The stepladder may be found by climbing down the pipes below Jindosh's bedroom balcony.
Courtyard Gate Key The Royal Conservatory The key to the gate that bypasses the first wall of light in Cyria Gardens. It can be found on the belt on the guard in the guard post near the same wall of light.
Archive Key The Royal Conservatory The key to the archive room in the basement of the Royal Conservatory. The key can be found in the nearby Quartermaster Office, accessible either by breaking down the blocked door or through a hole in the wall from the first floor. It can also be found in Breanna Ashworth's office, on her desk.
Security Room Key The Royal Conservatory The key to the security room that houses the Roseburrow Prototype at the Royal Conservatory. It can be found in the belt of a dead guard inside the room, accessed either by breaking down the door, climbing through a window above the door or entering through a vent.
Overseer Confiscation Room Key Dust District The key to the confiscation room in the Overseer Outpost in the Dust District. It can be found on the belt of Stellos, one of the sleeping Overseers on the second floor of the building.
Durante's Key Dust District The key to Durante's office at the Crone's Hand Saloon. It can be found on a desk near the window in Vice Overseer Liam Byrne's office at the Overseer outpost in the Dust District.
Silvergraph Studio Key Dust District The key to the Modotti Silvergraph Studio. It can be found in Durante's desk in his office at the Crone's Hand Saloon.
Kitchen Key A Crack in the Slab The key to the pantry in the kitchen in Stilton Manor. It can be found in a cupboard in the kitchen in the present.
Master Key A Crack in the Slab The master key for Stilton's mansion. It can be looted from the belts of some of the patrolling guards, and found on a stool by the table in the dining room.
Delivery Boat Key The Grand Palace The key to the boat delivering supplies to the black market shops. It can be found on the belt of the woman at the back of the black market shop. The boat is open anyway if the Grand Guard have raided it.
Shopkeeper's Apartment Key The Grand Palace The key to Carlos Marletto's apartment near the wall of light leading to the Grand Palace. It can be found in the cash register at the Winslow Safe Store.
Petronilla's Apartment Key The Grand Palace The key to Petronilla's apartment. It can be found on the belt of Allison, the female Howler near the black market shop.
Black Market Shop Key The Grand Palace The key to the local black market shop. It can be stolen from Ricardo Marletto, the shopkeeper, but only after entering the shop using the code.
Duke's Vault Room Key The Grand Palace The key to Luca Abele's vault. It can be stolen from the belt of the Duke.
Chest Key The Grand Palace The key to the chest of Armando, the Duke's body double. It can be pickpocketed from his belt.
Common Key Death to the Empress The key to the warehouse below the black market shop. It can be found behind some bottles on a rack to the right of the back door of the offices of the Dunwall Courier.

Trivia

  • There are two keys in the Hound Pits Pub that cannot be accessed through conventional methods:
    • Before the start of the House of Pleasure mission, if Corvo manages to get into the sewers before receiving the Old Port District Sewer Key from Havelock (by possessing a hagfish or turning the valve from the outside), then he will find a key inserted into the door leading to the basement (which can also be seen using Dark Vision). Picking it up will grant Corvo two keys: an Old Port District Sewer Key and a second one with a bugged name when highlighted, "?INT?RPG.DisKeyNames.?", but without one when viewed in the inventory. This key actually corresponds to the Hound Pits Key and lets Corvo get into the building outside the pub where Sokolov is later detained. However it can only be used immediately after it has been recovered, and between the Lady Boyle's Last Party and Return to the Tower missions.
      • Sokolov has unique dialogue if Corvo talks to him during these times. This implies that Corvo was supposed to be able to access the pits at other times, but the proper key was removed before the game's release.
    • Another key can be seen through the barricade on the left side of the street by using Dark Vision. It can only be reached using glitches or game commands such as noclip. The key appears to be another Old Port District Sewer Key.
  • Another key can be found stuck in the ground during the mission Return to the Tower. It can be seen using Dark Vision, under the whale oil canister powering the wall of light at the waterlock, and can only be taken using console commands. It is simply labeled "Waterlock Door" as opposed to the other keys.
  • The key ring from The Knife of Dunwall does not carry over to The Brigmore Witches, even if progress from the former is used as the starting point for the latter.
  • In Dishonored and its DLC, all keys bear the description "An old, rusty key." In Dishonored 2, each key has a unique description.
